Pac-Rite Plastics manufacture and distribute plastic packaging films. Their manufacturing capabilities include Extrusion, Printing, Bagmaking, Slitting, and Lamination. Local and import polymers are extruded and extruded as per the customer’s specification and requirements.
Pac-Rite's growing product variety extending into various markets reflects why our organization is one of the fastest growing flexible packaging company's in KwaZulu-Natal and in the future, Southern Africa.
The extrusion production capacity is in excess of 3300 tons p/a. Our machinery consists of 4 Italian Mono extrusion lines, and 1 Euro Co-Extrusion line with film thicknesses that can be run ranging from 20 micron to 200 micron.
Polymer blends consisting of specialty and performance polymers are extruded to meet and exceed their intended use. Typical films extruded are shrink films, form fill and seal sheeting, general packaging films or bags, agriculture film, and films for liquid packaging. All these are available as printed or unprinted.
The printing process of Flexography (Flexo) is offered at Pac-Rite Plastics. We have 2 OFEM CI presses with printing up to 8 colours- basic line work or full colour process work. Substrates that can be printed include polyethylene films, metallic films, polypropylene films and paper.
In-house ink technicians ensure that colours are matched to the required pantone reference, or colour standard to ensure consistency from batch to batch. Printed products are either converted to bags or slit into sheeting.
The bagmaking department comprises of side seal, bottom seal, and spine seal machines.
Products manufactured are general side seal bags, boutique bags, euro slot bags, flexi-handle bags, shirt bags with resealable tape, bottom seal bags, spine seal bags, spine seal bags with handles, 3 seal pouches and stand-up pouches.
The slitting department has 3 slitting machines that slits the jumbo reels down to narrower widths as per the customers’ specifications. Sheeting is generally printed as multiplies across to be most cost effective. This is then slit down to smaller reels that can be handled by our packers.
Pac-Rite now offers Lamination, a process of manufacturing packaging in multiple layers, so that the composite material achieves improved strength, stability, sound insulation, appearance or other properties from the use of the differing materials. PET, BOPP, Nylon and LLDPE films are generally used. The process is solvent-free meaning there is no solvent and no risks of emissions, making it safe for food packaging. Plus, there is no need to use ovens for drying. Benefits also include that it runs at high-speed using less energy, reduced capital investment costs as compared to solvent-based laminators and the footprint is also minor in comparison to a solvent-based laminator.
Pac-Rite Plastics first opened its doors to the flexible packaging industry in March 1994. Brian McCleary, the founder of Pac-Rite and still the proud owner has since used his extensive skills and ongoing passion for the company to grow it from a one-man operated business into the competitive organization it is today.
In 1995, Brian registered the two divisions of the company, distribution and manufacturing as two legal companies. Thus, the distribution sector being Pac-Rite cc, and the manufacturing sector becoming known as Invesco Industries.
Pac-Rite moved from Brian’s garage into its first owned business premises in Goshawk Park, New Germany in 1996. It didn’t take Pac-Rite long to outgrow these premises, which called for the company to relocate in 2004 to its current location in Stockville Road, Mahogany Ridge KZN.
Pac-Rite's extensive variety of products includes anything from industrial packaging to catering for the retail market. The on-going acquisition of new machinery is indicative of a company committed to constantly improving its efficiency and product offering to keep up with the pace of an ever-changing industry.
The Pac-Rite team prides itself on upholding high standards and values which ensure the production and distribution of quality products to every customer, no matter how big or small the request. The company also holds great value in its professional, flexible, and personalized approach to ensure meeting our customers’ needs.
The solid relationships with top quality suppliers and continuous support from long-standing and loyal customers speak volumes for the growth evident in Pac-Rite over the past 29 years, and it leaves Brian planning for an extremely exciting future. In a company equipped with fully competent, efficient and productive staff, the results speak for themselves!
